Windows and Doors

A most important part of any structure.

After the floor is installed, the entry door is tilted into place and braced.

Then more logs, windows / doors are added to complete the circle.

We custom make all our windows and doors in our factory. When they arrive on site, they are ready to stand up, brace and continue adding insulated logs or more windows.

These windows are a small amount of the 96 windows in total made for our latest job - 13 yurts in a resort.

Each yurt had 1 set of garden doors

Each yurt had one single door.

The reason you see shorter and taller windows is there were 5 smaller yurts at 21' diameter with an 8' high wall and 9 yurts that were 33 foot in diameter with a 9'6" high wall.

This hand carved entry door was our gift to the Tobique First Nations in Northern NB.

This is a solid door curved into a 30' diameter. The glass is bent thermal pane and the hand carving was carved in a curve to hug the glass.

If you look real close at the right you will see a small house with a name carved into it. We spent a lot of time over 11 years with this community and one of the elders passed with cancer. We hand carved his name into this little house at the entrance of the yurt so in spirit he still lives on.

Background

The Eagle is soaring through the birch trees.

According to traditional beliefs, the Creator made all the birds of the sky when the World was new. Of all the birds, the Creator chose the Eagle to be the leader… the Master of the Sky.

The Eagle flies higher and sees better than any other bird. Therefore, its perspective is different from other creations that are held close to the Earth, and it is closer to the Creator. The Creator also has a different perspective of what occurs below in this world of physical things in which humankind resides. The Eagle spends more time in the higher element of Father Sky than other birds, and Father Sky is an element of the Spirit.

The Eagle is considered to be a messenger to God. It was given the honor of carrying the prayers of man between the World of Earth and the World of Spirit, where the Creator and grandfathers reside. To wear or hold an Eagle feather causes the Creator to take immediate notice. With the Eagle feather, the Creator is honored in the highest way.

The wings of an Eagle represent the balance needed between male and female, each one dependent upon the strengths and abilities of the other.

When one receives an Eagle feather, that person is being acknowledged with gratitude, love and ultimate respect. The holder of the feather must ensure that anything that changes one’s state of mind (alcohol and drugs) must never come in contact with a sacred Eagle feather.

This was our gift to the community. Order some yurts from us and you never know what gift you will receive. Every order receives something.

Micro-Log Yurt

A fairly well-insulated yurt (walls are R-12), insulated floor (R-20), and a standing seam metal roof. Nice and warm but still not able to get a building permit as it does NOT meet all aspects of the building code. If you do NOT require permits, this is the yurt for you.

Insulated Yurt

A well-insulated yurt that is stamped and signed by a licensed engineer, passes all RSI value regulations necessary for permits, and meets all regulations under the National Building code: R-40 floors, R-30 walls, and R-40 to R-60 roofs.
